Emily was raised in Vancouver, Canada. She is currently based in Seattle, Washington and works as a private reading tutor. When she is not working with her students you can find her outdoors and enjoying time with friends!
Professional Bio
Emily Warner, MEd, RBT, holds a Bachelor's of Education Degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master's Degree in Special Education from George Mason University. Emily's MEd focused on Special Education and included a Graduate Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Emily specializes in working with children who have Dyslexia and uses the Orton-Gillingham approach with all of her students.
While serving as a specialized learning support teacher in a private school in Manhattan, NY, Emily was exposed to behavioral approach to help foster individual growth within mainstream educational setting. Emily then went on to study and train as a Registered Behavior TechnicianTM (RBT®) in Washington D.C.
Emily continues to work privately as a reading specialist in Seattle, Washington with students aged 6-12. Emily has built her practice around putting her students and their families first. She has long been passionate about literacy and connected with the Orton-Gillingham Method because of how individualized it is designed to be. Emily seeks to build a strong rapport with her students by planning engaging lessons with a focus on building a substantial foundation for literacy skills.
